Office printers hit by “gibberish” malware

Large businesses around the world, including the UK have been hit by this amusing for some piece of malware.
It causes the printer to spew out reams of gibberish until the paper runs out, the power is cut or someone attacks the printer with a large iron bar.

The malware as usual is loaded into Windows from an infected email or compromised website. **
This redirects the user to pages serving up adverts. Not uncommon. But a side effect of this particular nasty is to unpack a file to the PC’s print queue which Windows then proceeds to print.
Mostly it will be incomprehensible unreadable garbage.
The only real harm is to the environment, wasting all that paper and printer ink.
